Since I am a co-captain of a cheerleading squad, I tend to hear a lot of hair, makeup, "does this make me look fat?" dilemmas. The most recent one that I have come across is oily hair. People have asked me plenty of times before, whether or not they should shower everyday. My answer is yes.. and no. Showers are a good thing. They make you smell nice, they make you feel like a rockstar when your singing at the top of your lungs..... haha just kidding... or am I.. hmmm.. Anyway, showers are a very important thing to do everyday. Now here comes the BUT WAIT! Showers everyday may be a good thing for your body, BUT not for your hair. Here's probably where your saying to yourself, "but my hair gets oily if I don't wash it everyday!" Do you want to know why your hair gets oily? Because your washing it everyday. It's as simple as that. Now your probably thinking,"how can that be? washing your hair gets the oil out." That may be true, but there is an actual scientific explanation of why you shouldn't wash your hair every day. Imagine your hair is like a factory. Let's say this factory is producing candles. People buy the candles on a regular basis to make their houses smell good, or for decor; so the production of the candles are minimum. But, lets say that there is a power outage. Suddenly, those candles are being produced like crazy, and by the time the power comes back on, that factory has over produced candles. This all relates back to your hair. When hair is washed everyday, its like your hair is telling your cells to produce more oil because your washing out those naturally produced vitamins. So, there is a very simple solution to oily hair. Wash it less. Get one of those shower caps that grandmas use. Yes, your hair may be very oily at first, but thats because the "factory" is still making too many candles. Eventually, the problem will correct itself. Try not to wash your hair for 2 or 3 days. After awhile, you will notice that your hair will be less oily. Keep doing this and you will have beautiful, bouncy hair.
Love always,
